Tata Motors is making significant strides in its electric vehicle (EV) initiatives for the Indian market. Following the triumph of the Nexon EV, the automaker has raised the bar by introducing substantial design enhancements, upgraded specifications, and cutting-edge features to its electric SUV lineup. Now, the company has been captured conducting tests on another highly anticipated electric SUV, the Punch EV, in India.

In the unveiled image, the Punch EV prototype showcases a revamped bumper and grille adorned with striking vertical slats. Notably, the Daytime Running Lights (DRLs) are seamlessly integrated beneath the bonnet line, with an impressive light bar spanning the width of the hood. Furthermore, the sub-four meter EV retains its signature split headlamp setup, akin to the internal combustion engine (ICE) version.

An additional snapshot from the spy shots provides a glimpse of a significantly enlarged touchscreen infotainment system, complemented by an auto-dimming Internal Rear View Mirror (IRVM). Expect the Punch EV to inherit a plethora of features from its predecessor, the Nexon EV, including a digital instrument cluster, touch-sensitive HVAC controls, wireless charging capabilities, a revamped center console housing a new gear selector lever, plush premium seat upholstery, six airbags, and a twin-spoke multifunctional steering wheel complete with an illuminated Tata logo.

Regarding its battery pack and specifications, the Tata Punch EV is poised to adopt a configuration akin to the Tiago and Tigor EV models, promising enhanced efficiency, extended range, improved thermals, and increased power output. Upon its release, the Punch EV is strategically positioned between the Tiago EV and the Nexon EV, poised to rival the Citroen eC3 in India’s burgeoning electric micro-SUV segment. This latest addition signifies Tata Motors’ commitment to shaping the future of sustainable mobility in the country.
